Hi Erin, ranitidine for reducing stomach acid production - good drug, but if you want use effective natural remedies so i recommend - Anise, peppermint, and lavender
Here’s a tea that you can make to help you with acid reflux or heartburn. It will help you reduce the amount of acid you have in your stomach. Mix together equal amounts of aniseed, peppermint and lavender. Make an infusion of this tea:
    * boiling 2 1/2 cup distilled water
    * pour this water over a teaspoon of the herbal mixture
    * let this tea sit for 3- 5 minutes
    * strain the tea and add a little bit of honey if you like.
    * place this tea in a thermos
Drink up to 8 oz in the morning and 8 oz in the evening to get relief of acid reflux.

Check out a product called MISTICA and one called CORE GREENS. They are all natural, easy to take, taste good and actually work. Check out the website, they have lots of information. I had a Gastric Bypass operation in 2003 and since January 2007 I have been taking both. I no longer experience the acid reflux or heartburn and it has helped to soothe my digestion. My husband takes just the MISTICA and he doesn't pop Tums or Rolaids anymore.
I hope this helps you.

I have found that drinking a light carbonated drink helps, as well as taking a hot bath with vapors, or eating dry cereal. Lay off coffee and peanut butter for a couple of days and see if that helps.
