* If you have any heartburn during sleep try to elevate the head of the bed about 6 to 8 inches. The gravity will play its rule to keep the acid into the stomach and prevent its passage to the lower esophagus producing this pain. Consult your internal medicine specialist to gain more information on how to reduce pain during sleep time.

*Avoid wearing tight clothes. This type of fitting tight clothes around your waist and stomach will increase the incidence of heartburn by the previous mentioned mechanism.

* Avoid bending at your waist as it increases the pressure inside the stomach. Instead try to bend on your knees.

*Avoid to much of an increase of weight as it will also increase the pressure over your stomach this will lead to passage of the gastric content into the lower esophageal sphincter causing more pain.

* Stay away from smoking. As Smoking will not only cause very bad effects on your baby, but also it will lead to more heat burn.

This is great info and I have problems with acid coming up during sleep. I just bought a body pillow wedge and I am trying that to help elevate the head. I hope it works.
